The activities of the WasteForce project were presented at the meeting of the EMPACT EnviCrime on 17 September at the Europol office in the Hague, the Netherlands.
EMPACT is an acronym for the European Multidisciplinary Cooperation Platform Against Criminal Threats. It is a structured multidisciplinary co-operation platform of the relevant Member States, EU institutions and agencies, as well as third countries, international organisations and other (public and private) partners to address the prioritised threats of organised and serious international crime.
The multi-annual EU’s Policy Cycle prioritises the threats. In March 2017, the policy cycle was renewed for the 2018-2021 period. Environmental Crime is one the priorities.
The meeting aimed to prepare Operational Action Plans for 2020 and to identify possible areas of cooperation between the WasteForce project and EMPACT EnviCrime. Nancy Isarin (IMPEL Project Manager) discussed the tools and methodologies developed under WasteForce and the upcoming training events for law enforcement officials.
