Second Waste Crime Alert out now

You are here: Home / News / Second Waste Crime Alert out now

June 4, 2019 //  by Nancy Isarin

The WasteForce team today published the second issue of the Waste Crime Alert series. This tool aims to provide authorities and law enforcement with an up-to-date overview of developments in the illicit waste trade.

The project partners collect and analyse the latest information on waste crime to identify trends and possible threats of illegal waste trade, for example to certain geographic locations/routes and the identification of modus operandi for specific waste flows.

This edition contains information on topics such as the Cement’s Dirty Business, the WCO Operation Demeter and reports on plastic waste and health impacts. It also includes references of 21 cases of illicit waste management or transport operations.

The collected open source information includes news cases, enforcement agency bulletins, outcomes of court cases, relevant publications and policy updates. The Waste Crime Alert are published every quarter throughout the duration of the project. For questions about the Waste Crime Alert, please contact Susan van den Brink.

Download the Waste Crime Alert #2 here. Previous editions can be viewed at the publications page.
